The Gateway Resilience Run is a collaboration between The Gateway Resilience Fund and Big River Race Management to help small businesses and charities in the St. Louis Region get through the COVID-19 crisis through the power of running, walking and cycling. The Gateway Resilience Run is a virtual run or ride that participants can complete on their own where and when it is convenient for them. Participants will receive a custom limited edition t-shirt, finisher medal and incentives/offers to patronize local businesses all over the St. Louis region.
Over 250 road races, charitable walks and bike rides have been cancelled or postponed between March 14 and June 30 and many of those that had signed up are looking for a way to stay motivated and to help those affected by COVID-19. The Gateway Resilience Run is here to fill that gap. There are so many people running and walking right now, that this is the perfect way to stay motivated, scratch that competitive itch and also provide some charitable relief to many of the small businesses in the region.
Registering for the Gateway Resilience Run will score you a sweet medal (run or ride more than one distance - the medals link together!) that shows off a St. Louis landmark. You'll also snag a super-soft Social Distance Club tee, and a virtual goodie bag containing offers from small businesses throughout the area. Check out the swag here.

A virtual run/ride event is similar to a traditional running/cycling event except the participant completes it entirely on their own. There is not a required location that the event must be completed nor a mandatory time. A virtual run/ride event creates positive motivation by helping everyone get outside running to stay active and healthy. Many virtual runs, including the Gateway Resilience Run/Ride, are associated with giving back and creating awareness to a specific cause, charity, or organization. The Gateway Resilience Run/Ride wants to help the St. Louis community, including local businesses get through this unprecedented time.
Participants first choose the distance they’d like to run or ride, just as they would during a live running event. Once you choose your virtual event and complete your registration, the next step is to conquer the distance you signed up for and earn the finisher medal. The distance set by the event which you registered for can be completed at any location, and at any time of the day. The choice is completely up to you. Also, there is no time limit the distance must be covered in, and you can split up the distance between multiple days. The important thing is to at least finish the event, complete the distance, and have fun. Once finished, simply go online and submit your time to be included in the race results page!
